Truckee Fire Protection District covers the Truckee area and serves as the primary fire authority for the eastern Sierra portion of the county. The entire county sits in the wildland-urban interface (WUI) with significant wildfire risk.

NFPA 96 schedule applies. Limited local vendors in Truckee — service typically comes from Reno or Sacramento. Gold Country kitchen leaders have better access to Sacramento-area vendors.
Suppression Inspection
UL-300 wet chemical suppression systems required in all commercial cooking hoods. Semi-annual inspection and certification by a licensed C-16 contractor mandatory.
Wildfire evacuation planning is essential throughout the county. The 2021 River Fire burned through parts of Nevada County. Historic Gold Country buildings present additional fire safety challenges due to aged construction, narrow lots, and shared walls in downtown commercial districts.
